Public Views of Funding Methods for the BBC
Ipsos's survey for the BBC finds the license fee to be the most supported method of funding the BBC.
Ipsos conducted an update of a survey on behalf of the BBC asking the public which one out of the licence fee, advertising or subscription they would like to see as the main source of funding for the BBC.
The licence fee emerged as the means of financing the BBC with the single most support with 53 per cent of the public selecting the licence fee as their preferred method of BBC funding, ahead of advertising on 26 per cent and subscription on 17 per cent. Three per cent answered 'Don't know'.

Ipsos interviewed a representative quota sample of 1015 adults aged 15+ across the United Kingdom. Ipsos's Capibus vehicle was used for this survey. Interviews were conducted face-to-face in-home between 24th-30th January 2014 in 177 sampling points across United Kingdom. Data are weighted to match the profile of the population on age, social grade, region and working status - within gender and additional profiles on tenure and ethnicity
