Review of 'Family Futures'
Ipsos Scotland was commissioned by Glasgow Life to undertake a review of three elements of the Family Futures project (a partnership between Glasgow Life, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde and Glasgow City Council, that provides parenting education programmes and early intervention activities).
The three elements reviewed were Triple P (a positive parenting programme providing tips on how to promote child development and manage behaviour), and Bounce & Rhyme and Toddlers’ Tales sessions (an opportunity for parents/carers and young children to sing songs, perform action rhymes, and listen to stories together).
The review comprised qualitative research with parents, programme facilitators, and other practitioners involved in the delivery of the interventions (including Health Visitors, Social Workers, PACT teams, speech and language therapists, family support workers and Glasgow Life staff).
Overall, the three components of the Family Futures Project were viewed extremely positively by both programme participants and the practitioners involved in the administration and delivery of the programmes. Recommendations were made in relation to content and delivery, recruitment and retention, and future development.Technical details The evaluation comprised 6 telephone depth interviews with practitioners, 2 focus groups with programme facilitators and 5 focus groups with parents who attended the programmes.
