Research for IDeA on Health Improvement Agenda
In the summer of 2008 the Improvement and Development Agency (IDeA), in association with the Department of Health and the Local Government Association, commissioned Ipsos to conduct a survey of local government chief executives and other senior staff to find out what they know about, and how they are responding to, the Government's Health Improvement Agenda.

Issues Index November 2008
Ipsos's monthly Issues Index (conducted face-to-face monthly of c. 1,000 British adults age 18+) shows that the economy remains at the top of the list of public concerns. In fact, for the second month in a row, Ipsos has recorded our highest-ever rating for the economy, with more than three in five (62%) of the public rating it as one of the most important issues facing Britain, and increase of four points from last month.

Conservatives Down to 3 Point Lead Over Labour
Ipsos's November Political Monitor (carried out by telephone between 14-16 November 2008 among 1,002 adults age 18 and over) shows that among those absolutely certain to vote, the Conservative Party share has dropped five points to 40% and the Labour Party share has increased seven points to 37%. -

Concern about economy remains high, but just 14% worry about unemployment
The economy again tops Ipsos's monthly Issues Index, with just under three fifths of British adults (58%) saying it is one of the most important issues facing Britain, an increase of 3 points from last month.

Ipsos's October Political Monitor shows that despite media speculation about a "bailout bounce", the Conservatives remain firmly in the lead with more than four in ten voters choosing them (45%), while Labour trails on 30%.

A House Divided?
As the House of Lords prepares to vote on legislation to extend the detention limit of terrorist suspects without charge from 28 to 42 days, Ipsos's most recent study of MPs reveals that views in the House of Commons are somewhat split, both on the likely impact of the legislation and on whether the Parliament Act should be used to force the legislation through.
