Ipsos survey on behalf of Doteveryone to understand the attitudes of technology professionals.

Ipsos has undertaken survey research on behalf of Doteveryone, to understand the attitudes of technology professionals towards their sector, its future and the application of ethics within their work.

The technology professionals survey was designed to explore the following areas:

  • The views of those working in technology roles towards the impacts of their work.
  • How they currently asses the consequences of their work and the opportunities for implementing more ethical solutions.
  • The challenges they see in realising these opportunities.

Ipsos also ran a parallel survey among the general public to act as a comparison point on a number of the key measures.

Technical Note

The technology professionals research took the form of an online panel self-completion survey. The survey took around 10-minutes to complete and fieldwork was conducted between 25th February – 6th March 2019. 1,010 surveys were completed in total. The target audience for this survey was technology professionals in the UK. These are defined as people employed in any of the roles included in the government’s Digital, Data and Technology Profession Capability Framework. Distribution of roles and all other demographics fell out naturally.

The general public research took the form of an online self-completion survey on the Ipsos omnibus. The survey took around 5 minutes to complete and fieldwork was conducted between 12th – 15th March 2019. 2,234, surveys were completed in total. The target audience for this survey was general public, representative of the UK on age, gender, region and SEC.
