As the world becomes more aware of the importance of authentic representation of diverse communities, it’s important to understand not only the changing composition of the population but also the way creators and audiences identify with the world around them. With cross-cultural identities becoming more recognized as indicated by a 276% increase in Americans classifying as multiracial in the US census from 2010 to 2020, consumers expect to see their racial/ethnic group authentically reflected in society as well as the content they are exposed to on social and video platforms.
