If AI use at work is growing, we don't know it.

Workplaces are using AI at the same rates they were a year ago, according to the Ipsos Consumer Tracker.

The Ipsos Consumer Tracker asks Americans questions about culture, the economy and the forces that shape our lives. Here's one thing we learned this week.

Why we asked: A year ago we asked about AI usage at work and it was time to trend this. Also, Ipsos just released its annual Global AI Monitor, so we had AI on the brain.

What we found: The numbers are unchanged from a year ago. Just under four in ten say their employer is using ChatGPT or other AI chat tools. Only one in four think AI image or video generators are in use. One in four think AI is being used in HR and recruiting. This actually tracks somewhat with similar flat-ness in the Global AI Monitor. While the field is rapidly advancing technically and investment continues to pour in, public opinion isn’t developing at anywhere near the same rate.
