Title: The Hallucination of Empathy
Abstract: AI is a powerful tool for scaling UX, but can it provide the nuance required for truly inclusive design? As teams adopt synthetic users and AI-driven synthesis, they risk a "Hallucination of Empathy"—a simulation of insight that systemically erases the "spiky," lived realities of people with disabilities. In this session, experts from Open Inclusion and Ipsos dissect the "Probability Gap," where AI algorithms average out critical disability insights. Through real-world case studies, we demonstrate the irreplaceable value of diverse and direct human engagement. Attendees will gain actionable frameworks for applying AI to UX research and a checklist for bridging the probability gap through authentic accessibility practices. Join us to champion the "small data" of un-stereotyped real human experiences in the big-data era. AI may have to guess, but we don’t have to.
