Americans think AI is already having a profound effect on society
The Ipsos Consumer Tracker asks Americans questions about culture, the economy and the forces that shape our lives. Here's one thing we learned this week.
Why we asked: At a SXSW taping of his “Prof G Markets” podcast, Scott Galloway made a bold projection that he said no one with an IQ over 90 would agree with: That, over time, GLP-1s will have a bigger impact on society than AI.
What we found: Perhaps we have a very smart group of survey respondents. While we don’t have an IQ cross-tab, no demographic group ranked GLP-1s as having a bigger impact than AI, which topped this list of innovations.
AI and cybersecurity ranked 1 and 2, followed closely by advanced mobile phone tech. Then there was some fall-off to the next tier, with electric vehicles outpacing robots and GLP-1s. Alternative proteins placed distantly behind those.
But again, Prof G. contends this is an eventual outcome. So, we’ll have to ask this again in a year or two and see if it’s shifted. Stay tuned!
