About the Study
These are some of the findings of an Ipsos poll conducted between September 22 – October 10, 2025, on behalf of Google. For this survey, a sample of roughly 21,000 adults age 18+ were interviewed online in 21 countries. Approximately 1,000 adults age 18 + who are residents of the Canada (CAN), Belgium (BEL), France (FRA), Germany (DEU), Poland (POL), Spain (ESP), Italy (ITA), United Kingdom (GBR), Ireland (IRL), Australia (AUS), India (IND), Japan (JPN), Singapore (SGP), South Korea (KOR), Brazil (BRA), Mexico (MEX), Nigeria (NGA), South Africa (ZAF), United Arab Emirates (ARE), and Argentina (ARG) were interviewed online using Ipsos online panels, partner panel sources, and river sampling. A sample of roughly 1,000 adults age 18+ who are residents of the United States (USA) were interviewed online via the KnowledgePanel®.
The sample for this study outside of the United States was randomly drawn from Ipsos’ online panel, partner online panel sources, and “river” sampling and does not rely on a population frame in the traditional sense. Ipsos uses fixed sample targets, unique to each study, in drawing a sample. After a sample has been obtained from the Ipsos panel, Ipsos calibrates respondent characteristics to be representative of each country’s population using standard procedures such as raking-ratio adjustments. The source of these population targets is government census entities. The sample drawn for this study reflects fixed sample targets on demographics. Post-hoc weights were made to the population characteristics on gender, age, region, and education (where available).
Statistical margins of error are not applicable to online non-probability polls. All sample surveys and polls may be subject to other sources of error, including, but not limited to coverage error and measurement error. The precision of Ipsos online polls is measured using a credibility interval. In this case, the poll has a credibility interval of plus or minus 3.8 percentage points for all respondents in each country. Ipsos calculates a design effect (DEFF) for each study based on the variation of the weights, following the formula of Kish (1965). This study had a credibility interval adjusted for design effect of the following (n=1000, DEFF=1.5, adjusted Confidence Interval=+/-5.3 percentage points).
In the United States, interviews were conducted online in English and Spanish using the probability-based KnowledgePanel®. The margin of sampling error for this study is plus or minus 3.2 percentage points at the 95% confidence level, for results based on the entire sample of adults. The margin of sampling error is higher and varies for results based on other sub-samples. The data for the total sample were weighted to adjust for gender by age, race/ethnicity, education, Census region, metropolitan status, language dominance, and household income. The demographic benchmarks came from the 2025 March Supplement of the Current Population Survey (CPS).
In our reporting of the findings, percentage points are rounded off to the nearest whole number. As a result, percentages in a given table column may total slightly higher or lower than 100%. In questions that permit multiple responses, columns may total substantially more than 100%, depending on the number of different responses offered by each respondent.
