More Americans say their employer aligns with their political beliefs

More Americans now say their employer aligns with their personal political beliefs than last year, a 12-point jump to 61%, according to the Ipsos Consumer Tracker

The Ipsos Consumer Tracker asks Americans questions about culture, the economy and the forces that shape our lives. Here's one thing we learned this week.

Chart showing that more Americans believe their employer's political beliefs align with their own

Why we asked about employers and their beliefs: Brands continue to navigate the tricky waters of responding to customers who want them to take a stand on issues, but only on some issues, and only stands they agree with, and also hold true to the stand you take even if there’s a backlash because a sizeable majority want to buy from a brand that reflects their personal values…  and this month is Pride Month and Juneteenth. One key constituent in this puzzle is often overlooked: The company’s own employees.

What we found: More Americans now say their company/employer aligns with their political beliefs than last year, a 12-point jump to 61%. One theory: Companies are taking fewer stands and providing less ground for disagreement. Or it could be that companies are taking stands that more people agree with. But given that there isn’t really a party split in the data, the former theory seems more plausible.
