Are married people different?

The following facts and figures are compiled from Ipsos U.S. Express, a twice-weekly omnibus survey of American public opinion, from products to current events.

Are married people different?

  • They are likely smarter-or at least they have more education. 35% of married people have a college degree while only 24% of those not married have a college degree
  • Married people are more likely to be Republican. 49% of married people are Republican compared to 33% of non-married people.
  • Married people are much more likely to be homeowners. 84% of married people own homes versus 54% of those who are not married.
  • Married people are more likely to vote-or are at least more likely to be registered to vote. 82% of married people are registered to vote versus only 68% of non-married people.
  • Married people are more optimistic.
  • When asked if our country is headed in the right direction, 51% of married people agreed, while only 40% of those not married agreed.
