LATAM - Primary Consumer Sentiment Index - January 2017

The Thomson Reuters/Ipsos Monthly Primary Consumer Sentiment Index (PCSI) was released today for the following countries: Argentina, Brazil and Mexico.

Argentina

The Argentina Primary Consumer Sentiment (“Consumer Confidence”) Index (“PCSI”) as measured by the Thomson Reuters/Ipsos PCSI for January,2017 is down 6.9 percentage points over last month.

The monthly PCSI result is driven by the aggregation of the four, weighted, sub-Indices:  the PCSI Employment Confidence (“Jobs”) Sub- Index which is down 3.9 points; the PCSI Economic Expectations (“Expectations”) Sub-Index which is down 6.6 points; the PCSI Investment Climate (“Investment”) Sub-Index which is down 9.6 points; and the PCSI Current Personal Financial Conditions (“Current Conditions”) Sub-Index which is down 8.4 percentage points over last month.

Brazil

The Brazil Primary Consumer Sentiment (“Consumer Confidence”) Index (“PCSI”) as measured by the Thomson Reuters/Ipsos PCSI for January,2017 is up 0.1 percentage points over last month.

The monthly PCSI result is driven by the aggregation of the four, weighted, sub-Indices:  the PCSI Employment Confidence (“Jobs”) Sub- Index which is up 1.8 points; the PCSI Economic Expectations (“Expectations”) Sub-Index which is up 4.2 points; the PCSI Investment Climate (“Investment”) Sub-Index which is down 2.6 points; and the PCSI Current Personal Financial Conditions (“Current Conditions”) Sub-Index which is down 2.9 percentage points over last month.

Mexico

The Mexico Primary Consumer Sentiment (“Consumer Confidence”) Index (“PCSI”) as measured by the Thomson Reuters/Ipsos PCSI for January,2017 is down 7.6 percentage points over last month.

The monthly PCSI result is driven by the aggregation of the four, weighted, sub-Indices:  the PCSI Employment Confidence (“Jobs”) Sub- Index which is down 4.9 points; the PCSI Economic Expectations (“Expectations”) Sub-Index which is down 8.2 points; the PCSI Investment Climate (“Investment”) Sub-Index which is down 9.1 points; and the PCSI Current Personal Financial Conditions (“Current Conditions”) Sub-Index which is down 9.2 percentage points over last month.
