North America - Primary Consumer Sentiment Index - April 2018

The Thomson Reuters/Ipsos Monthly Primary Consumer Sentiment Index (PCSI) was released today for the following countries: Canada and the United States.

CANADA

The Canada Primary Consumer Sentiment (“Consumer Confidence”) Index (“PCSI”) as measured by the Thomson Reuters/Ipsos PCSI for April,2018 is up 2.8 percentage points over last month.
The monthly PCSI result is driven by the aggregation of the four, weighted, sub-Indices:  the PCSI Employment Confidence (“Jobs”) Sub- Index which is up 4.6 points; the PCSI Economic Expectations (“Expectations”) Sub-Index which is up 1.7 points; the PCSI Investment Climate (“Investment”) Sub-Index which is up 2.9 points; and the PCSI Current Personal Financial Conditions (“Current Conditions”) Sub-Index which is up 3.1 percentage points over last month.

US

The US Primary Consumer Sentiment (“Consumer Confidence”) Index (“PCSI”) as measured by the Thomson Reuters/Ipsos PCSI for April,2018 is up 0.5 percentage points over last month.
The monthly PCSI result is driven by the aggregation of the four, weighted, sub-Indices:  the PCSI Employment Confidence (“Jobs”) Sub- Index which is up 1.4 points; the PCSI Economic Expectations (“Expectations”) Sub-Index which is up 0.1 points; the PCSI Investment Climate (“Investment”) Sub-Index which is down 0.2 points; and the PCSI Current Personal Financial Conditions (“Current Conditions”) Sub-Index which is up 0.6 percentage points over last month.
