Public opinion

The data indicates a shifting in eras for the American position in the world. The Obama administration was seen by many in global community as a president looking outward from our borders; while President Trump won the election by looking inwards and reinforcing the borders. Though it is clear that the public thinks this era might be short lived, with 1/3 believing Trump will be impeached in 2017.

Ipsos presented at the Embassy of the United States of America, in Paris, the climate of opinion before the presidential elections in France and in the US.

Early in June, Ipsos presented at a seminar in Paris looking ahead to the forthcoming elections in the United States and France. The event, hosted by the US Embassy, saw Brice Teinturier (Ipsos Public Affairs, France) and Clifford Young (Ipsos Public Affairs, USA) describe the prevailing mood in their respective countries and what this means for the political scene.
