Global Attitudes Towards the FIFA World Cup 2018 in Russia

Worldwide, more than two in ten respondents, who are aware of the FIFA World Cup 2018, believe that Germany will take home the Cup. Brazil, Spain and Argentina are also among the favourites. Overall, people have predominantly positive opinions about the games being held in Russia.

Irish Referendum Exit Poll on Abortion's Restrictions

Irish voters went to the polls on May 25 for a national referendum to remove restrictions on abortion from its constitution, allowing abortion to be made legal in Ireland. Ipsos MRBI was commissioned by The Irish Times to undertake an Exit Poll to be published immediately after polling stations closed at 22:00 that night. Publishing an Exit Poll this quickly had never been previously achieved in Ireland and doing so would be a major challenge.

2018 US Politics - Americans Continue to View Healthcare as the Most Important Problem Facing the US Today (May 23)

President Trump’s approval rating remains steady: 45% of all Americans approve of the way Trump is handling his job as President. Registered voters are slightly more likely to approve of Trump’s performance (47%).

Globally Half Think Socialist Ideals are of Great Value

Half of the people around the world think that at present, socialist ideals are of great value for societal progress. Despite this, half of the people also agree that socialism is a system of political oppression, mass surveillance and state terror. Globally, eight in ten people think that the rich should be taxed more to support the poor. Around the world nine in ten people believe that education should be free of charge and that free healthcare is a human right. Nearly seven in ten people globally believe that every resident should have the right to unconditional basic income.

Our Exit Polls Compared to the Actual Election Results: How did we Do?

On March 21, 2018, elections in 335 municipalities in the Netherlands were held as well as a national consultative referendum on the Intelligence and Security Services Act. Ipsos conducted exit polls in six municipalities (Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Utrecht, Enschede, Weert and Emmen) and a nationwide exit poll for the referendum vote. Based on our exit polls, we gave an indication of the election results and turnout, which was subsequently broadcast by the NOS on national television.
