The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) commissioned Ipsos MORI to survey people’s attitudes towards saving for their retirement, and how much they feel they would need to live comfortably during retirement. Voluntary Statement of Compliance with the Code of Practice for Statistics
The Code of Practice for Statistics (the Code) is built around three main concepts, or pillars: Trustworthiness, Quality and Value.
• Trustworthiness – is about having confidence in the people and organisations that publish statistics. • Quality – is about using data and methods that produce assured statistics.
• Value – is about publishing statistics that support society’s needs for information.
The following explains how we have applied the pillars of the Code in a proportionate way.
• Ipsos MORI are bound by the Market Research Society’s code of conduct. The MRS code of conduct represents ten principles which are designed to ensure that the research has been carried out in accordance with professional standards and in an ethical manner.
• Ministers and Comms will see the findings before publication in order to make decisions about the content of Communications campaigns, so they cannot be released to all users at the same time. Not all findings are published as Communications research is primarily used to develop campaigns and advise Ministers.
• The survey took place using established quantitative research methodology. • It has been quality assured using MORI’s internal processes which are subject to the requirements of the international quality standard for market research, ISO 20252.
• This research is used to monitor progress in campaigns to encourage pension saving. The data is used for internal Management Information.
• Ministerial policy decisions are not normally based on this data.
• On occasion the findings illustrate points of interest in public debate which is why we do – from time to time – publish some findings from the surveys.
In total, 962 adults aged 22-Spa were interviewed in-home, face-to-face, from 8 to 20 June 2018, of which 757 were employees earning over £9,500
Data have been weighted to be representative of the national population profile of Great British employees aged 22 to State Pension age.
