Ipsos Update - October 2024

Trends, News, Ageing … Ipsos Update explores the latest and research & thinking on key topics from Ipsos teams around the world.

Welcome to the October edition of Ipsos Update.

10 years ago, we started the Ipsos Global Trends study. Since then, it has only gotten bigger and more insightful, with tens of thousands of participants from around the world, we’re able to pull out nine key trends to provide context to today’s society.

We also launched the sixth edition of our Health Service Report, which finds, for another year, that mental health is considered one of the main health concerns affecting people across 31 countries. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for our upcoming World Mental Health Day study.

In this edition:

  • Global Trends 2024 – In the 10th anniversary edition, we unveil a refreshed framework of nine Trends based on more than 50,000 interviews across 50 markets that represent three-quarters of the world’s population and 90% of its GDP.
  • Ipsos Health Service Report 2024 – While the Covid-19 virus is a respiratory disease, perhaps the pandemic’s biggest long-term effect on public health will be on mental health.
  • Conversations with AI Part V – In the latest iteration, we share the results of a research study conducted to test the capabilities of AI twins, aka Synthetic Respondents.
  • What Worries the World? – Inflation is no longer the leading worry after being in the top spot for 29 consecutive months; crime and violence now takes its place.
  • What The Future: News – We examine the possible futures and solutions for trust, news avoidance, generational differences and sustaining local news.
  • A New Era for Pharmaceutical Advertising – We see new US regulations as a potential opportunity to re-think creativity for DTC pharmaceutical advertising that can lead to even stronger effectiveness.
  • 2024 Social Threats to Ageing Well in America – We explore the social and environmental factors preventing seniors in the United States from thriving in their later years.
  • Global Commons Survey 2024 – Earth4All and the Global Commons Alliance have released their second report on global attitudes towards nature and planetary stewardship.

Also, find out what the British public think of the new government’s education plans; get all the latest on the US election; read the award winning paper about the impact of AI on human connection; and discover the complexities of diagnosing rare diseases.
