JUNIOR DATA SCIENTIST - CHP
A. Job Purpose
The Data Scientist is responsible for overall quality of the data and the sample of the Retail or Consumer audit.
He/she should ensure that there are proper/adequate quality checks in place, and improve the overall process where gaps are identified. Understand the possible market dynamics that can drive the results of a retail audit.
Be able to understand and interpret the data trends. Do regular updates of coverages and suggest corrective actions where issues occur.
Prepare presentations for internal and possibly external clients.
Estimate universes for existing and future Retail audit countries, using both internal and external data sources.
Be able to think outside of the box and provide proper solutions to the specific client needs.
Design samples to represent the universe of the specific country/category.
Work closely with production and field teams to continuously improve the quality of the Ipsos retail and consumer products.
Ensure that required KPI’s are produced, shared and tracked across all areas of the retail and consumer product.
B. Key Performance Areas
1. Universe Estimation
1.1. New countries
• Do required desk research for countries where no universe is available to enable universe estimation.
• Review census questionnaire and ensure all relevant questions are covered to enable universe estimation.
1.2. Existing countries
• Provide design for sample census where required.
• Ensure relevant areas are visited and that quality is of high standard by implementing efficient quality measures.
• Use the census information to estimate the universe.
• Update business/client of any new emerging channels.
2. Sample
2.1. Sample design
• Design a sample representative of the category/ies within the specific country.
• Sample should meet the reporting needs of the client and adhere to Ipsos standards.
• Provide sign-up instructions using sampling frame if available. If no sampling frame is available then provide more granular sample info, in line with micro-representavity analysis.
2.2. Sample maintenance
• Ensure that Net sample compliance is maintained at 95% or higher.
• Work closely with field team/project manager to ensure critical cells are filled and any a-typical or lost store are replaced asap.
• Ensure elapsed days are kept within Ipsos standards. If any days fall outside of acceptable parameters ensure corrective measures are put in place, and tracked until situation is improved.
3. Production
3.1. Sign off on data
• Data trends needs to be reviewed for all countries and categories.
• Final sign off needs to be provided by Data Science before any data can be delivered to Client Service for review and analysis.
• Any gaps in process that might be observed needs to be communicated to the relevant area and corrective action taken.
• Sample compliance, standard error and coverage levels and trends needs to be checked and monitored on a regular basis.

C. Experience and Qualifications
• Degree in Statistics or Mathematics
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in retail audit
