The 2019 edition of Ipsos's Understanding society, A women's World, brings together a collection of articles, based on our research with a diverse range of women all around the world. We have contributions from trailblazing women: Julia Gillard, Australia’s first woman Prime Minister and now Chair of the Global Institute for Women’s Leadership, and Megha Mohan, the BBC’s first ever Gender and Identity Correspondent. We have articles from experts in their fields: Nigina Abaszadeh, who works in Gender and Human Rights for the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), and Nata Duvvury and Stacey Scriver, leading academics specialising in gender and economic participation from NUI Galway.

This report produced by Ipsos and the OSCE, presents the cross-regional, comparable findings of the OSCE-led Survey on the Well-being and Safety of Women. The area covered by this research is diverse and has different historical, social and economic contexts. Rather than focusing on the findings from particular locations, the report aims to provide an overview of women’s experiences and to highlight the issues – often similar – that persist and continue to hamper the well-being and safety of women throughout the area covered by the research.

2018 Advocates Survey Equal measures 2023

In 2018, Equal Measures 2030 and Ipsos asked more then 600 gender advocates about their views on progress towards gender equality, how they feel about current data sources and what issues to prioritise in our push for better and more accessible data in order to better meet the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for girls and women.

Policymakers and Gender Equality: what they know and how theyEqual Measures 2023 know it 

Equal Measures 2023 and Ipsos surveyed 109 policymakers in five Equal Measures 2023 focus countries (Colombia, India, Indonesia, Kenya, and Senegal), seeking to shed light on the following questions: 

  • How do policymakers perceive progress on gender equality in their countries?
  • What most needs to change in order to improve gender equality?
  • What data and evidence do they rely on to make their decisions?
  • How confident are they in their understanding of the major challenges affecting girls and women in their countries?
