    Public Say Prevention Is Single Most Important Area For Research Into Age-Related Ill-Health

    Preventing ill-health is the public's single most important area for research into ageing, an Ipsos study published today has found. More than twice as many adults in the UK chose research into prevention over research into cure. Research focused on managing conditions and how best to support and care for people who have ill health came second to prevention ahead of cure.

    The Closure of MG Rover

    The National Audit Office (NAO) commissioned Ipsos to conduct qualitative research to understand the perspectives of former employees about the support and information they received from central government funded public bodies following the closure of MG Rover. The research provides an insight into the reactions of 38 people who have had to deal with the wide ranging financial and social implications of being made redundant at very short notice. The NAO's wider study on the closure of MG Rover was taken as evidence by the Public Accounts Committee on 20 March 2006.

    This report contains findings from a benchmark wave of quantitative and qualitative research among young people across the UK in 2005 on behalf of Ofcom and the ASA. The study has been designed to assess the impact of regulatory changes in alcohol advertising rules aimed at reducing the appeal of some alcohol advertising to young people under the age of 18 years.

    Public 'Sceptical' Of Public Appointments

    Although awareness of public appointments remains low in the UK, there have been some improvements since 2000 according to research by MORI. The research, commissioned by the Office of the Commissioner for Public Appointments (OCPA), shows one in five people (21%) say they have confidence in the system in place in this country.
