The Countryside March Survey
A quarter (27%) of those who marched through London on the 'Life and Liberty' march this weekend believe fox hunting should be the main priority for the Countryside Alliance. The MORI Social Research Institute survey, commissioned by the International Fund for Animal Welfare and League Against Cruel Sports, was carried out along the march route.
Participants were asked: "As you probably know, the Countryside Alliance has been closely involved in the organisation of today's march. In your opinion, what one campaign issue should be the main priority for the Countryside Alliance?"
Apart from Fox Hunting, one in five (21%) said farming. Schools, healthcare, affordable housing and jobs were each named by just one in 50 (two percent) and one percent said crime prevention.
On political attitudes, eight in 10 of those stating a voting preference (82%) on the march said they would vote Conservative if there was an election tomorrow, compared to a national Conservative "share of vote" figure of 27%.
