Public Embrace the Digital Age
Despite media scepticism, the British public are eagerly embracing the arrival of digital television. One in ten people expect to be among the first to get a digital receiver and a further one in five have decided to get one in six to twelve months' time. These findings come from research conducted this summer for the Consumer Electronic Access Study, a comprehensive project examining demand for home electronic access applications, a joint venture between MORI and PricewaterhouseCoopers.

The Nestleacute; Family Monitor is a series of research studies into family life in Britain undertaken on behalf of Nestleacute; by MORI. It is designed to examine attitudes to and perceptions of family life and how families in a Britain function approaching the millennium. Each wave of research addresses a core set of issues as well as a number of topical subjects. This summer, the monitor focused on the school summer holiday; at home and going away. The power of public opinion was vividly demonstrated recently in Britain by an event which grabbed the attention of the entire world. Princess Diana, an icon of our time with probably the highest awareness level of anyone in the world, was killed in a car crash and at the age of 36, struck down in the prime of life. Her life was measured in the thousands of extra copies of magazines and newspapers in every language published, when she was the cover picture. Her death became a world-wide public event, with millions who had never met her feeling a personal bereavement.
