Public Attitudes Towards Insurance Fraud
Detica has released results from a MORI poll exploring public attitudes towards insurance fraud. A key finding of the research is that while most people think that a proportion of a typical insurance premium does go towards paying for insurance fraud, most overestimate the amount. More than half (54%) believe that fraud adds more than 10% to premiums, including 40% of people who believe this figure to be over 20%. In fact, the true figure is just 3.75% (source: Association of British Insurers).

Postal Voting And Fraud
MORI's research for The Electoral Commission during the 2005 General Election campaign shows that 46% think that electoral fraud is either a fairly big or very big problem in Great Britain. This compares to 69% of the public who say the same about false insurance claims and 79% who think benefit fraud is a problem.

Personal Injury Lawyers
Latest research by MORI shows that more than half (55%) the British public would be confident in knowing who to contact in pursuing a compensation claim if they had been injured. Two in five (41%) would prefer an accredited, independent personal injury lawyer to deal with their claim. Only 13 per cent would prefer to deal with a claims handling company. Of those who would prefer to use a personal injury lawyer, a third (33%) find one by asking friends or family, with telephone directories (30%) also a popular source of information.

Congestion Charging
Almost half of British adults (47%) support charging for road use to reduce peak-time congestion — as long as this leads to lower road tax, according to new MORI research. The survey conducted for Detica shows a third (34%) oppose the idea.

The Cost Of Email Management
According to a survey conducted by MORI on behalf of BT, 77% of IT directors questioned at financial services firms in the USA, continental Europe and the UK do not know, or cannot calculate, the total cost of ownership (TCO) for their current message management infrastructure. This is despite the growing reliance on electronic communication channels.
